The Entrepreneur stream of the Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) closed to new applications on 31 July 2024. The former funding and eligibility criteria are historical, and cannot be used to lodge a new application under this stream.
What options should entrepreneurs consider now?
The National Innovation visa (subclass 858) is a separate pathway with its own criteria. It is not an automatic replacement for every former subclass 188 applicant. Depending on your circumstances, a skilled or employer-sponsored pathway may also warrant assessment.
If you already hold a subclass 188 visa or have an undecided application, obtain advice about the rules applying to that application and any potential permanent visa pathway before withdrawing it or making new plans.
